First things first, keep in mind that every school's interview process is unique! In general, most school' are looking for applicant's who are confident, have great interpersonal skills, and have a history of overcoming challenges.
When it comes to preparing after you've been offered an interview, find out what type of format the interview is from the school. Typically, the format will be a group or one-on-one interview, although some schools use something called the mixed multiple interview (MMI).
Ahead of time, you should do a mock interview and work on your ability to clearly and eloquently describe why you pursuing dentistry and why you chose this school. Work on incorporating sincere anecdotes and showing passion. Know why this school is the best place for you by finding information about the curriculum, specialty training, research and professors.
You should have an understanding about some of the current issues in dentistry, as well where dentistry is heading in the next 5, 10, even 20 years.
Dress to impress! That means business professional. Men - that means suit and tie. Women - preferably dress pants or a skirt, blouse, and maybe even a suit jacket.
While you're there, be aware of your verbal and non-verbal actions. That means not looking bored or playing on your phone, responding to questions with confidence, speaking articulately and clearly.
After the interview, it's a good idea to send a thank you card or e-mail to every admissions person you interviewed with. This is also your chance to ask any follow-up questions.
